۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They said, “We found our forefathers worshipping them.” 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 So he broke them into fragments, all but a great one they had, for haply they would return to it. 58 (When the people came to the temple and saw the broken idols) they asked each other, "Who has done this to our gods? He certainly is an unjust person". 59 They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them. 60 They said: "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may testify." 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 He said: rather he hath wrought it, this big one of them; so question them, if they ever speak. 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 (So Abraham) said: "Then why do you worship something apart from God that cannot profit you or do you harm? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 To Lot We gave knowledge and wisdom and saved him from the people of the town who were committing indecent acts. They were certainly a bad and sinful people. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
