۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
