The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
