Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
