The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
