The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The piercing star! 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
