The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits abounding 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
