The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And the close of night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
