Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
