The dwellers of the forest also rejected the messengers. 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others). 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 And keep your duty unto Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old. 184 They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, 185 you are only a mortal like us. Indeed we believe that you are an utter liar. 186 "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" 187 He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do." 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
