Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Blest be He in whose hand is the dominion, and He is over everything Potent. 1 Who created death and life that He might try you as to which of you is better in deed. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Forgiving; 2 who created the seven heavens, one above the other. You cannot see any inconsistency in the creation of the Merciful. Return your gaze, do you see any crack! 3 Then return your gaze once more and yet again, your gaze comes back to you dazzled, and tired. 4 We have adorned the lowest heaven with lamps, and We have made them for driving away devils. For them We have prepared the punishment of the blazing Fire. 5 For those who have disbelieved in their Lord, We have prepared the torment of hell, the most terrible place to return. 6 When they will be cast thereinto, they will hear thereof a braying even as it boileth up, 7 as though it will burst with rage. Every time a multitude is cast into it, its keepers will ask them: “Did no warner come to you?” 8 They will say: "Yes indeed; a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: 'Allah never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error.'" 9 And they will add: "Had we but listened [to those warnings,] or [at least] used our own reason, we would not [now] be among those who are destined for the blazing flame!" 10 So they acknowledge their sins; but far removed (from mercy) are the dwellers in the flames. 11 Indeed for those who fear their Lord without seeing is forgiveness, and a great reward. 12 Whether you conceal what you say or reveal it, God knows best all that the hearts contain. 13 How could He who created not know His own creation, when He alone is the Most Subtle in His wisdom and the All Aware? 14
