The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 The night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
