He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honourable pages. 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
