The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to the stinters; 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 It is a repository of distinctly written record 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
