The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
