The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has sent down to His slave (Muhammad SAW) the Book (the Quran), and has not placed therein any crookedness. 1 A just Book, to warn of Allah’s severe punishment, and to give glad tidings to the believers who do good deeds, that for them is an excellent reward. 2 Wherein they will abide for ever; 3 And to warn those who say, "Allah has taken a son." 4 No knowledge whatever have they of Him, and neither had their forefathers: dreadful - is this saying that comes out of their mouths, [and] nothing but falsehood do they utter! 5 Then perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, [O Muhammad], if they do not believe in this message, [and] out of sorrow. 6 We have made whatever exists on the earth its adornment to test and try them (and) know who acts better; 7 and, verily, [in time] We shall reduce all that is on it to barren dust! 8 Or deemest thou that the People of the Cave and the Inscription are a wonder among Our portents? 9 Behold, the youths betook themselves to the Cave: they said, "Our Lord! bestow on us Mercy from Thyself, and dispose of our affair for us in the right way!" 10 We sealed off their ears in the cave for a number of years, 11 Afterwards. We raised them up again, that We might know which of the two parties would better calculate the while they had tarried. 12
