The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
