a large group of the earlier people 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 The Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good, 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 you shall eat (the fruit) of the Tree of Zakkum. 52 Fill your bellies with it, 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 Drinking the way thirsty camels drink. 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 We! it is We Who created you: wherefore confess ye not? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Do ye create it or are We the Creator? 59 We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome, 60 from changing the nature of your existence and bringing you into being [anew] in a manner [as yet] unknown to you. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 If We so wished, We could have reduced your harvest to rubble, and you would have been left wonder-struck to exclaim: 65 'We are debt-loaded; 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. 73 Extol, then, the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's mighty name! 74

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
