He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 So you are after him! 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he fears, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
