We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape; 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape; 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
