The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25
