The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
