S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad [These letters (Sad etc.) are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Quran full of reminding. 1 Nay! those who disbelieve are in self-exaltation and opposition. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 They were surprised that one of them had come to them as warner; and the unbelievers said: "He is a deceiving sorcerer. 4 What! makes he the gods a single Allah? A strange thing is this, to be sure! 5 And their leaders went about, “Leave him and cling steadfastly to your Gods! Indeed he has a hidden objective in this!” 6 We have heard nothing like this in the latest religion. This is only his own false invention. 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower? 9 Have they control over heavens and earth and whatever [lies] between them? Then let them climb up to heaven by ropes: 10 They will be one more army vanquished among the many routed hordes. 11 Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, 12 And Samood and the people of Lut and the dwellers of the thicket; these were the parties. 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
