The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
