The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
