Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Turned aside therefrom (i.e. from Muhammad SAW and the Quran) is he who is turned aside (by the Decree and Preordainment of Allah). 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 Indeed the pious are among Gardens and water springs. 15 receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 and in your selves; what, do you not see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
