The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
