The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
