The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come to know what it has brought. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
