The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
