The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And no trifle. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
