Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 A revelation from [God], the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful -- 2 a Book whose verses have been well-expounded; an Arabic Qur'an for those who have knowledge, 3 Giving good news and admonition: yet most of them turn away, and so they hear not. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 (Muhammad), say, "I am a mere mortal like you. I have received a revelation that your Lord is the only One. So be up-right and obedient to Him and seek forgiveness from Him. Woe to the pagans, 6 (To) those who do not give poor-rate and they are unbelievers in the hereafter. 7 "The ones who believe and perform good deeds shall have a reward which will never be withheld from them." 8
