The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
