The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
