The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
