The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 Do you, of all people, approach males, 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said, "I certainly hate what you practice. 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his household all. 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 175
