The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 you pay attention 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
