The Sun (Al-Shams)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 And [by] the earth and He who spread it 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
