NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 in Gardens they will question 40 about the guilty ones: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
