The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and the night that falls, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
