In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 or orders piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
