The people of Lot cried lies to the Envoys 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said, "Lot, if you do not give up preaching, you will certainly be expelled (from this town)". 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 So We saved him and all his people, 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 Then We destroyed the others. 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
