He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
