The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a written book, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
