The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
