In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Keep watch all the night except some, 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
