The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
