Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true). 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Nay, man will be evidence against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
