He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 you attended to him, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
