Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the break of Day 1 By the Nights twice five; 2 And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). 3 And [by] the night when it passes, 4 is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? 5 Have you not heard of how your Lord dealt with the tribe of 'Ad, 6 (And) the tall giants of Iram? 7 The like of which were not produced in (all) the land? 8 (Also consider how He dealt with) the Thamud, who carved their houses out of the rocks in the valley. 9 and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles? 10 (All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands, 11 spreading in them much corruption? 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower. 14 As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". 15 And if He tests him and restricts his livelihood – thereupon he says, “My Lord has degraded me!” 16 But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, 17 Nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And you eat away the heritage, devouring (everything) indiscriminately, 19 And you harbour intense love for wealth. 20 Most certainly – when the earth is smashed and blown to bits. 21 And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank, 22 And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him? 23 He shall say: O! would that I had sent before for (this) my life! 24 But on that Day none will punish as He (Allah) will punish, 25 And no one shall bind with (anything like) His binding. 26 (To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction! 27 return to your Lord well pleased with him and He will be pleased with you. 28 Enter thou among My righteous bondmen! 29 enter My Paradise! 30
