The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 Do men think they will get away by saying: "We believe," and will not be tried? 2 for We indeed tested those who went before them? Allah will most certainly ascertain those who spoke the truth and those who lied. 3 Or do those who do ill-deeds imagine that they can outstrip Us? Evil (for them) is that which they decide. 4 He who hopes to meet God should know that God's appointed hour is sure to come. He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 5 Hence, whoever strives hard [in God's cause] does so only for his own good: for, verily, God does not stand in need of anything in all the worlds! 6 Those who believe [in the Oneness of Allah (Monotheism) and in Messenger Muhammad SAW, and do not apostate because of the harm they receive from the polytheists], and do righteous good deeds, surely, We shall remit from them their evil deeds and shall reward them according to the best of that which they used to do. 7 And We have enjoined on man kindness unto parents. But if the twain strive to make thee associate with Me that of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not. Unto Me is your return, and I shall declare unto you that which ye have been working. 8 And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely admit them among the righteous [into Paradise]. 9 There are some people who say: 'We believe in Allah' yet when such is hurt in the cause of Allah, he makes the persecution of people as though it were the punishment of Allah. But then if help comes from his Lord, he will say: 'We were with you' Does Allah not know what is in the chests of the worlds (people)? 10 [Yea - ] and most certainly will God mark out those who have [truly] attained to faith, and most certainly will He mark out the hypocrites. 11 And those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Follow our way, and we will carry your sins." But they will not carry anything of their sins. Indeed, they are liars. 12 But they verily will bear their own loads and other loads beside their own, and they verily will be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning that which they invented. 13
